I just spent New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in New York with Sandy, thanks to the monstrous generosity of Sabia and Bob, who lent us their Brooklyn Heights apartment while they were in Austin. The trip was a massive change of pace for me, with no school, work, or other obligations. I even stayed disconnected from the internet for the whole trip, seven days, which, it shames me to report, I have literally not done for years.

I was surprised by how instantly comfortable it felt to be back in New York. The days passed rapidly, and at multiple points we schemed to extend the trip, or better yet, find a way that I could stay indefinitely.

The following pictures are from Brooklyn, mostly around Brooklyn Heights, and from a walk we took up into DUMBO to Jacques Torres’ chocolate factory. I’ll post more over the next few days.
